Γιάννης Κόντος, Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη Ιωαννίνων

Ο Γιάννης Κόντος έχει κατακτήσει σημαντική θέση διεθνώς στο χώρο του φωτογραφικού ντοκουμέντου. Συνεργάτης του Αμερικανικού πρακτορείου Polaris Images έχει ταξιδέψει σε περισσότερες από 45 χώρες καλύπτοντας τα σημαντικότερα γεγονότα στον πλανήτη. Γεννήθηκε στα Γιάννενα, είναι απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Επιστήμης Φυσικής Αγωγής και Αθλητισμού του Α.Π.Θ. και του Τμήματος Φωτογραφίας και Οπτικοακουστικών Τεχνών του Τ.Ε.Ι. Αθήνας. Επίσης είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου από το Πανεπιστήμιο Westminster του Λονδίνου, ενώ βρίσκεται σε εξέλιξη η διδακτορική του διατριβή στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Newport School of Art, Media and Design, σπουδές που πραγματοποιεί με υποτροφία του Ι.Κ.Υ.

Μέχρι σήμερα έχει κερδίσει 20 διεθνή βραβεία, ανάμεσά τους και το πρώτο βραβείο του κορυφαίου διεθνούς οργανισμού World Press Photo το 2006, στην κατηγορία «Σύγχρονα Θέματα». Φωτογραφίες, κείμενα και συνεντεύξεις του δημοσιεύονται στα σημαντικότερα ξένα έντυπα.

Έχει πραγματοποιήσει πολλές σημαντικές εκθέσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό ενώ έχει εκδώσει δύο λευκώματα από τις εκδόσεις Καστανιώτη με τίτλο «Α-πορίες» και «Κόκκινη Ουτοπία, Φωτογραφίες από την Βόρεια Κορέα».

Yannis Kontos, Municipal Art Gallery of Ioannina

Yannis Kontos was born in Ioannina, Greece in 1971.
A freelance professional photojournalist, Yannis Kontos has been associated with the French international agencies SYGMA (1998-2000) and GAMMA (2001-2002) and the American POLARIS IMAGES from its inception to date.
He has gone on dozens of long assignments in many parts of the planet, from Palestine and Israel to West Sahara and Sierra Leone, and from North Korea and Indonesia to Iran and Colombia. He has covered events like the recent wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo, the political change in former Yugoslavia and the crisis in South Lebanon in 2000, the anti-globalization demonstrations in Genoa in 2001, the conflicts over the disputed territory of Kashmir on the India-Pakistan border in 2002, the Olympic Games of Athens, the problem of immigrants on the US-Mexican borders, the terrorist attacks in London in July 2005 and the life of Maoist guerrillas in Nepal.
His photographs, texts and interviews have been published in such major foreign publications as Time, Newsweek, Life, The New York Times, Stern, Der Spiegel, Nouvel Observateur, Paris Match, L’Express, Le Monde, Liberation, The Independent, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Observer, GEO, L’ Espresso, Panorama, La Republica, El Pais, etc.

Robert Knoth, Κάστρο Ιωαννίνων – Ιτς καλέ

Ο Ρόμπερτ Νοτ άρχισε την καριέρα του ως φωτορεπόρτερ το 1993. Κατά τη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του ’90 κάλυψε πολές από τις εμπόλεμες ζώνες στην Αφρική, την Ασία και τα Βαλκάνια. Με την πάροδο του χρόνου η δουλειά του δημοσεύτηκε ευρέως σε διεθνή περιοδικά, μεταξύ των οποίων στα New York Times, Der Spiegel, Sydney Morning Herald, La Repubblica, Sunday Telegraph Magazine.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια δουλεύει ως ανεξάρτητος φωτογάφος τεκμηρίωσης σε μακροχρόνια εγχειρήματα. Στη δουλειά τού του αρέσει πάντα να δείχνει την πολυπλοκότητα διάφορων κοινονικο-οικονομικών ή πολιτικών ζητημάτων και την επίδρασή τους στην καθημερινή ζωή των απλών ανθρώπων.

Το εγχείρημα Πιστοποιητικό αρ. 000358/, ένα βιβλίο πάνω στις μακροχρόνιες συνέπειες τεσσάρων μεγάλων πυρηνικών ατυχημάτων στην Πρώην Σοβιετική Ένωση του εξασφάλισε διεθνή αναγνώριστη. Η δουλειά του έχει εκτεθεί σε ευρύ κοινό σε περισσότερα από 70 μέρη στον κόσμο, μεταξύ των οποίων το Σπίτι της Φωτογραφίας στη Μόσχα, η Πλατεία των Τεχνών στο Μόντρεαλ, η Γκαλερί Oxo στο Λονδίνο, το Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης στο Κίεβο και το Διεθνές Φψτογραφικό Φεστιβάλ στο Πινγκ Γιάο.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της καριέρας του ο Ρόμπερτ Νοτ έχει αποσπάσει πολυάριθμα βραβεία, μεταξύ των οποίων δύο βραβεία του World Press Photo το 2000 και το 2006.

Παραδίδει συχνά εργαστήρια ή διαλέξεις και παίρνει μέρος σε συζητήσεις με θέμα τη φωτογραφία. Κάποια από τα μέρη όπου μίλησε τα τελευταία χρόνια είναι τα: Σχολή Τεχχνών/Πανεπιστήμιο της Νέας Υόρκης, Κρατικό Τμήμα Media στο Πεκίνο, Αυστραλιανό Κέντρο Φωτογραφίας στο Σίδνεϊ, Fotopub  στη Σλοβενία, Πανεπιστήμιο Griffith στο Μπρίσμπεϊν και Πανεπιστήμιο της Τεχνολογίας στο Σίδνεϊ.

Αυτή την εποχή ο Ρόμπερτ Νοτ εργάζεται πάνω σ’ ένα βιβλίο που ακολουθεί τα ίχνη της αφγανικής ηρωίνης καθ’ οδόν προς στην Ευρώπη και το αντίκτυπο που έχει σε περισσότερες από δώδεκα χώρες. Το βιβλίο προβλέπεται να εκδοθεί το 2012.

Robert Knoth, Ioannina Castle – its cale

Robert Knoth began his career as a photojournalist in 1993. Throughout the 90ties he covered many of the conflict zones in Africa, Asia and the Balkans.

Over the years his work has been widely publicized in international magazines as New York Times, Der Spiegel, Sydney Morning Herald, La Repubblica, Sunday Telegraph Magazine, amongst many.

 In recent years he has been working on long term projects as an autonomous documentary photographer. In his work he always like to show the complexity of various social-economical or political issues and the effects it has on the daily life of ordinary people.

 The project Certificate no. 000358/, a book about the long term effects of 4 major nuclear disasters in the former Soviet Union, has won him much international acclaim. The work has been shown to a wide audience in more than 70 places around the world, including the Moscow House of Photography, Place Des Arts in Montreal, Oxo Gallery in London, Museum for Contemporary Art in Kiev and the International Photo Festival in Ping Yao.

 Throughout his career Robert Knoth has won numerous awards, including two awards at World Press Photo in 2000 and 2006.

 He frequently gives workshops or lectures or takes part in debates about photography. Some of the places in past years are: School of Arts/New York University, State Media Department Beijing, Australian Center for Photography in Sydney, Fotopub Slovenia, Griffith University in Brisbane and University of Technology in Sydney.

 Knot is currently working on a book in which he follows the trail of Afghan heroin on its way to Europe and the impact it has in over a dozens countries. The book is scheduled to be published in 2012.

Niels Van Iperen, Γκαλερί Τεχνοχώρος

Μία από τις πρώτες αναμνήσεις του είναι η οικογενειακή φωτογραφία τους. Ένας μεγάλος γενειοφόρος άνδρας, που δεν ήταν άλλος από το θείο του, τους έβαλε να χαμογελάσουν μπρος στην μηχανή του. Ο ίδιος είχε φωτογραφείο και από πολύ νωρίς, μόλις στην ηλικία των οκτώ, δίδαξε στον Niels πώς να αναπτύσσει και να εκτυπώνει τις δικές του φωτογραφίες. Μέχρι τη στιγμή που ήταν 15 χρονών, έπαιρνε την μηχανή του στις συναυλίες και έτσι άρχισε να εργάζεται για μουσικά περιοδικά. Μάλιστα κατά τις σπουδές του στο “The Hague Academy of Arts” έγινε γνωστός ως «pop φωτογράφος».

Το επάγγελμα αυτό τον οδήγησε στο Λος Άντζελες και τη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου φωτογράφιζε πορτρέτα και εξώφυλλα περιοδικών ( Nirvana, BB King, Michael Jackson, Metallica). Σύντομα άρχισε να ταξιδεύει στον κόσμο, όπως Ιαπωνία, Κούβα, Βολιβία. Σε ένα από τα ταξίδια του ανακάλυψε ένα μέρος που απέφευγε, την Κολομβία. Τον συνεπήρε και τον εξέπληξε η περιοχή και ο λαός της, με αποτέλεσμα να αποφασίσει να εγκατασταθεί. Ακόμη και σήμερα, στα 42, ζει και εργάζεται στην Κολομβία. Περιτριγυρισμένος από τους πιο φιλικούς ανθρώπους που μπορεί κάποιος να γνωρίσει, η δουλειά του φαίνεται ευχάριστηση.

Niels Van IperenTechnochoros Art Gallery

When Dutch photographer Niels van Iperen was seven, he started taking professional shots at rock concerts. At age 15, Steve Harris of Iron Maiden stood in front of his lens, followed by the ‘who’s who’ of music history: Michael Jackson, Kurt Cobain, Mick Jagger … Soon van Iperen was circling the globe, and photographing over 3000 bands and artists. Between assignments, he tried to see as much of the world as possible: Japan, Cuba and Bolivia – finding Latin America particularly interesting. Colombia was one destination, however, that he avoided for a long time. When he at last visited the country in 2002, he discovered that many of the horror stories he had heard were overblown. “When I went there I was pleasantly surprised because, while every Latin country has fascinating aspects, Colombia seems to have them all in one country!” The magical place has held him captive ever since. Van Iperen, now 42, has lived in Colombia for eight years, doing commercial photo shoots and running a photo equipment business. His love for Colombia is reflected in his personal projects. They represent a homage to the country and its people, because Colombia has so many facets: Delightful landscapes and the snow-covered Andes, a beautiful coastline, the Amazon River, and an amazing variety of plants and animals. “But Colombia has to deal with corruption, plus a hundred years of internal war, fifty years of guerrilla conflict, and countless paramilitary massacres. It’s the country of Pablo Escobar, and the world center of cocaine production.” Van Iperen uses Hasselblad cameras to capture the countless faces for his Colombia series. He masters the use of light – at times warm sunlight contrasting with dark blue skies, at times cold and bright on an ice blue backdrop. Despite the unusual 2:1 landscape format that he uses for his portrait photographs, the people are the main protagonists in his images. The many background details, however, often serve to complete the stories. Most of his Colombian photos have the feel of snap shots. Some really were, while others were carefully staged and used a lot of equipment; yet, despite the degree to which some photos have been set up, they always end up looking real and spontaneous. He uses Hasselblad cameras for all his Colombia photos. “These are the most ergonomic cameras in the world: They allow for fast shooting, can even be used in scarce light circumstances, and their True Focus system is indispensable for shooting portraits with large diaphragm openings.” Some pictures were taken with an H3D-39 or an H4D-50. He takes the H3D-31, above all, when he is heading for less safe areas. “You’re only risking a small part of the investment in a H4D-50 …” Van Iperen’s Colombia series was inspired, by German photographer, August Sander. In the 1920s Sander did a series of portraits trying to put together a sort of “German typology”. “When I started working on this personal project I departed from his idea, and set it in Colombia today instead of Germany in the 1920s.” In addition, Van Iperen sometimes adds very fantastical elements to his pictures: “Where Sander’s photos, like his culture, are devoid of any ‘fantasy’ elements, in Colombia and in my photos it is something inevitable.

Ο Δημήτρης Μέλλος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε ψυχολογία και φιλοσοφία. Τα τελευταία χρόνια ζει στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου εκπονεί διδακτορικό στην κλινική ψυχολογία, ενώ παράλληλα φωτογραφίζει. Φωτογραφίες του έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε εφημερίδες και περιοδικά στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, και έχουν συμπεριληφθεί σε ομαδικά λευκώματα. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις στην Ελλάδα και τη Νέα Υόρκη, και έχει πραγματοποιήσει ατομικές στην Αθήνα, τα Γιάννενα, την Ιταλία και την Αγγλία.  Dimitri Mellos, Taf – The Art Foundation, Monastiraki

Dimitris Mellos was born in Athens, Greece. He studied philosophy and psychology. A few years ago he moved to New York City, where he is pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology, while also photographing. His work has appeared in magazines and newspapers in Greece and abroad, and has been included in catalogues and other books. He has taken part in group shows in Greece and New York, and has had solo shows in Athens, Ioannina, Italy and the UK. He has also won several awards. He is currently working on a book on the streets of New York City, and another book on Greek landscapes.

Γεννήθηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη όπου καιδιαμένει. Σπούδασε πληροφορική στα Ιωάννινα και εργάζεται ως αναπληρωτής καθηγητής. Παρακολούθησε το 2002 το τμήμα Τεχνικός Λήψης Φωτογραφίας στο Πολιτιστικό ΙΕΚ Θεσσαλονίκης με την καθοδήγηση του Τάσου Σχίζα και του Τριαντάφυλλου Κουρούκλα.

Έργα του έχουν δημοσιευτεί δικτυακά στο περιοδικό WorkInProgress (www.wip.gr)

στο γαλλικό Plateform και το ισπανικό El Photographico, καθώς και σε άλλα έντυπα

Born in Thessaloniki where he currently resides.. He studied computer science in Ioannina University and works as a substitute teacher. In 2002, he attended photography courses in Thessaloniki by the guidance of Tasos Schizas and Triantafyllos Kourouklas. His photos have been web published in WorkInProject (www.wip.gr), in the french magazine Plateform, in the spanish El Photographico, along with publications in foreign press. His work was distinguished in the european photo competition Imagine a New World and was featured in the
parallel exhibition program of 2010 Photobienalle. Right now, he is completing his post-graduate studies in Creative Writing.those who were brought on a stage with no written dialogue and no prompt. the
detached. those who chose a small escapade. those who took the decision to live in contrast with the background

«Στο βίντεο βλέπουμε τον βραβευμένο καλλιτέχνη να τρέχει σε ένα πυκνό δάσος
και να του κόβεται η ανάσα, λες και το οξυγόνο σιγά σιγά τελειώνει.
Ακολουθούν εικόνες που συνοδεύονται από μουσική που σε στοιχειώνει,
με τη φωνή του ίδιου να απαριθμεί στα γερμανικά, όλα όσα ήξερε στο παρελθόν
και έχουν αλλάξει η εξαφανιστεί από το μέλλον του:
ένα δέντρο, ένα σπίτι, μια οικογένεια. Σαν καλογυρισμένη ταινία μικρού μήκους,
το βίντεο καταλήγει με τον ίδιο να μας μιλάει από το έτος 2060:
«Καθημερινά επισκέπτομαι το άγαλμα της πολικής αρκούδας,
καθώς είμαι ένας από τους πολλούς που ζουν γεμάτοι ενοχή».»

το βίντεο είναι μια υπενθύμιση της προσωπικής ενοχής που πρέπει να νιώθουμε
για το θάνατο του πλανήτη,
μιλώντας από το μέλλον ο αφηγητής συνειδητοποιεί πόσο εύκολα τελικά θα είχανε σωθεί πολλά, αν απλά σε προσωπικό επίπεδο στερούμασταν τα μη αναγκαία αγαθά και προσέχαμε λίγο περισσότερο.

το Εκουαδόρ, την Κόστα Ρίκα, την Ελλάδα, την Ιταλία και τη Γερμανία.
Θέμα του διαγωνισμού ήταν η κλιματική αλλαγή και οι συνέπειές της στο μέλλον, μέσα από την ματιά των καλλιτεχνών.

Born in 1982 in Ioannina, Aris forvitinn (“Aris Chantzopoulos”) uses a wide range of channels of communication and expression to create emotions. By means of painting, photography, sculpture as well as video art, media art, performance and music, he is trying to conceive a multi-dimensional image of his own world, his own fairytale. Two elements mostly dominate his work: a romantic and quite nature-friendly emotional spirit, expressed persistently through his artistic search of a virgin forest and aquatic universe of elf-like creatures and the dynamism of a wild, inhospitably realistic – but of pure and minimalist plasticity-, urban and technological human-made environment.  Combining these two different worlds together made him create a very personal stroke both visually and musically.  Video art came as a way to combine music and image, a need to unify the canals of his creation under a common denominator, a marriage that could elevate him. Music within this process of visual composition is always present and is both a source of inspiration and a means of creative expression. Following classes of cello  and playing  piano from a small age, Aris creates experimental music,  incorporating his hermaphrodite voice in a range of music composition created using musical instruments, electronic sounds samples merging thus experimental, pop, ambient, electronic and techno elements in his sound.        Since 2007 he began to perform with his audiovisual live set solo or with other musicians participating in his projects.  Having already a homemade album in his hands with the title of  “shhhh … ” he opened up a new chapter presenting his art not only  in well known spaces in Athens and Thessalonica such as bios, Kinky-six d.o.g.s., Nixon and Liebe but also in the Berlin stage of N.B.I. On the other hand, important artistic spaces and multimedia Festivals, such as: the EPASKT, Spilioti projects, Booze, 417, Synch Festival, international film festival of Thessalonica, Athens VideoArt Festival, med curare art movement malmö in Sweden and the Biennial of new artists 2009 held in Skopje have in times presented his work.  Aris is nowadays living and working in Athens with long stays in Berlin

Όταν οι σκέψεις συσσωρεύονται στο μυαλό κανείς δεν μπορεί να κοιμάται ήσυχος…Το πρώτο ψυχολογικό θρίλερ της Ouga Bouga Production είναι γεγονός.Με την ανεκτίμητη βοήθεια,σε όλα τα στάδια παραγωγής, του Γιώργου Χρυσοχοϊδη καθώς και των αδελφών Δαλαμάγγα (Σίλια και Μαριέττα) το Post It Attack αποτελεί πλέον πραγματικότητα.

Ο Αντώνης Πετρούλιας ασχολείται με την παραγωγή ταινιών μικρού μήκους τα τελευταία πέντε χρόνια. Δούλεψε ως μοντέρ στο ντοκιμαντέρ «βγήκαμε από τα ρούχα μας» το οποίο διακρίθηκε με το πρώτο βραβείο κοινού στο 11^ο διεθνές φεστιβάλ ντοκιμαντέρ Θεσσαλονίκης. Αυτή είναι η δεύτερη προσωπική του δουλειά.

Antonis Petroulias is engaged in the production of short films for the past five years. He has worked as film editor in the “The World Naked Bike Ride Project in Thessaloniki” documentary that won the audience prize at the 11^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. This is his second  personal work.

Οι άνθρωποι σε μια πόλη απομακρύνονται ο ένας από τον άλλον, απομονώνονται, κρύβονται στον εαυτό τους με αποτέλεσμα να μην αντιδρούν στα ερεθίσματα που δέχονται από τους άλλους ανθρώπους. Υπάρχουν στιγμές που είναι μόνοι τους ή αισθάνονται ότι είναι μόνοι ενώ βρίσκονται και υπάρχουν ανάμεσα σε πλήθος κόσμου. Μπορεί να βρίσκεται κάποιος παθητικά δίπλα τους χωρίς να αντιδρά και αυτό ίσως είναι χειρότερο. Μπορεί επίσης η συνήθεια ύπαρξης ενός προσώπου να μην μας αφήνει να ζήσουμε χωρίς την αίσθησή του, ακόμη και μετά την απουσία ή την απώλειά του. Το άψυχο χέρι μιας κούκλας μπορεί να παίξει διαφορετικούς ρόλους ανάλογα με την ιστορία του καθενός.

Γεννημένη στη Λάρισα το 1984 με σπουδές στην σχολή Πλαστικών Τεχνών και Επιστημών της Τέχνης του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων, είναι μέλος του Πολιτιστικού οργανισμού του Δήμου Λαρισαίων και ασχολείται επαγγελματικά με την δημιουργία βιτρώ. Το 2010 συμμετείχε στο festival φωτογραφίας «Photometria» στα Ιωάννινα με την προβολή του video «Εύα». Το ίδιο έτος συμμετείχε στην ευρωπαϊκή δράση «736 ιδέες για ένα όνειρο» με το έργο «Just from the beginning».

Born in the city of Larissa in 1984, with degree in Fine Arts and Art Sciences, University of Ioannina, is a member of the Cultural Organization of Municipality of Larissa and professionally engaged in the creation of stained glass. In 2010 she participated in the photography festival “Photometria” in Ioannina, by viewing the video “Eve”. The same year she also participated in the European Action “736 ideas 4 a dream” with the painting “Just from the beginning”.
