Antigone Kourakou was born in 1979. She is a photographer and art conservator based in Athens, Greece. She developed an interest in photography in 2010 and has since consistently used the medium to explore and express her aesthetic sensibility. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally. In 2022, her first monograph, Transfiguration, was published.

Kourakou’s work stems from a need to construct her narrative. It serves as a form of personal record-keeping—a kind of diary meant to preserve the memory of her experiences, thoughts, and feelings. More than that, it reflects a desire to chart one’s path in the hope that, perhaps in this way, it won’t be forgotten.
