In a world where perceptions are increasingly mediated and reality itself can seem elusive, we invite photographers to explore the multifaceted nature of constructed realities through their lens.

Photography has always held the power to capture and shape narratives, but in today’s digital age, the lines between reality and fabrication blur more than ever. From carefully curated social media feeds to AI-generated imagery, our understanding of what is real is constantly challenged.

Consider how directed photography can manipulate perceptions, presenting a carefully constructed version of reality. Venture into dreamworlds where reality bends and twists, offering glimpses into alternate dimensions of existence. Reflect on the influence of media propaganda, where images are weaponized to sway opinions and distort truths.

“Constructed Realities” invite photographers to push the boundaries of creativity and imagination, to provoke thought and inspire dialogue. Whether through conceptual compositions or documentary-style narratives, we encourage artists to challenge perceptions and question the constructs that shape our understanding of reality.

Join us in exploring the intricate tapestry of constructed realities, where truth and fiction converge, and where every image holds the potential to reveal, distort, or reimagine the world around us. Let your creativity roam freely as you navigate the realms of perception and illusion.

Born in 1984, my name is Vasilis Ntaopoulos and I am a social scientist and a photographer based in Larissa, Greece. My educational background derives from my studies in Social Anthropology (BA & Msc) and Gestalt therapy. My relationship with photography started in 2013, and since then I had the chance to be a member of Larissa’s Photography Club and a member of “f plus” photography group as well. I have participated in several workshops (selected lecturers: P.Petridis, G.Karailias, G.Prinos, N.Christia, L.Zotou) and group exhibitions in Greece (selected “Young Greek Photographers” Athens Photo Festival 2019), and my photography work has been featured in online and printed publications (selected: Urbanautica, Map 6 Collective, The Provinces, Lifo, Photologio, Kiosk of Democracy, Pop Sonality).

Tobias Gambaro, photographer, visual artist, media consultant. Lives and works in Zug/Switzerland and Heraklion/Greece.

Born in Hamburg/Germany. Childhood in Kenya. Studied architecture in Vienna/Austria. Early photographic section lines – the father lets him participate soon to his own photo reportage work and the preparation of the photo processing lab. However, out of this young years imprint he developed his very own point of view in the photographic documentation of his environment.

The approach and the confrontation with humans, whom he perceives and scans, remains important motivation. Formal and structural images form another major focus of his photographic works. They also reflect the recovered vision as an former architect and designer.

Exhibitions inter alia, in Austria, Germany, China, South Korea, Netherland, Italy.

Gaining a Bachelor degree in urban economics and city planning, O-Young Kwon decides to pursue his dream and make photography his full-time profession. A decade full of extensive work as a freelance lighting assistant and digital operator for advertisement campaigns and fashion photo productions all over the world followed and allowed him to derive valuable knowledge about the industry, making him realize a relentless urge for more sincere authenticity.

His perception of photography led him to look into different cultures and made him aware of certain social issues, which are often rooted in political circumstances. So he inevitably turned into a conscientious photographer following ethical principles, who has been apolitical, but not anymore.

The more stories he produces, he feels that his work is not really about taking photos: “Actually I just use the camera as a tool to engage with social studies, where indeed the result is seen in forms of pictures, sounds and words, but the real body of my work is so much more than that. It’s about empathy and building up trust, how to get involved in subcultures, where you don’t have any connections to at all. To respect others without prejudices and to never stop to question yourself and your origin. It’s a little bit like therapy, getting aware of your own self.”

Oskar Alvarado born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Oskar Alvarado is a visual artist currently living in Barcelona. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at Basque Country University (UPV), a MA on Curatorial and Cultural Practices in Art and New Media at Higher School of Design (ESDI) in Barcelona and a Graduate Diploma in Management, Preservation and Dissemination of Photographic Archives at Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (UAB).

In his work, he creates visual worlds where people appear to interact in intimate spaces. In bounded territories to explore our identity. Places to show our fragility. The permanent duality in which we live: the conflict between what we appear to be and our true selves. He put the focus on the moment that consciousness and unconsciousness are found, where reality and fiction blur the border and coexist in the mind in a recreation of two parallel worlds that make up our essence. His motivation is to continue exploring new emotional landscapes. Stagings of the strangeness, of the everyday life dramas hidden in suburban existence.

Alvarado’s work has been recognized in awards and mentions as: Sarajevo Photography Festival, Kolga Tbilisi Photo Award, Festival Images Gibellina, OpenWalls Arles, Flow Photofest, Lucie Foundation Fine Art Scholarship, Santiago Castelo International Photography Award, Life Framer Photography Award, Helsinki Photo Festival, Art Photo Bcn, Restart Lithuanian Photographers Association, Tokio International Foto Awards and IPA International Photography Awards.

His work has been selected and exhibited in several international photography festivals such as: Fotonoviembre Atlántica Colectivas (Spain), Photo Is:rael (Israel), Foto Arica Festival Internacional de Fotografía (Chile), Verzasca Foto Festival (Switzerland), Chambre 07 (France), Addis Foto Fest (Ethiopia), Solar Foto Festival (Brazil), BFoto Festival (Spain) and Voies Off Awards (France).
